Lifelong study／一生の勉強

In life no matter how many diplomas you got from school, or how many things you learned, there is always something you dont know.

For example this week in the hospital they were teaching some staff simple japanese that i already know, but a lot of little words i learned as well. The same way even though i do not speak perfect japanese i was teaching the teacher the right way to translate things in english.

I think it is a very good example to remember to always stay humble in life, and not to look down or think bad of someone because you are better or you know something they don’t.

Its important to always be nice, to everyone no matter where and what language they speak, because they surely know something you dont, and they can teach you something that didn’t know before. And vice versa you can teach them something they dont know.

A lot of cases we see older people learning from younger people, my grandma use to tell me you can learn a lot from life just by watching kids play around. Now i understand.

So let’s remember to be humble, nice and open minded, because life is an forever learning experience no matter how old or well educated we may be.

人生では、あなたがどんなに多くの学位を持っていても、どれだけ多くのことを学んでも、それでもあなたが知らないことが必ずあります。

例えば、今週の病院では、私がすでに知っている簡単な日本語をスタッフに教えていましたが、私が学んだ小さな単語もたくさんありました。同じように、私は完璧な日本語を話せなくても、先生に英語での正しい訳し方を教えていました。

自分の方が優れているからとか、相手が知らないことを知っているからといって、誰かを見下したり、悪く考えたりしないように、人生において常に謙虚でいることを忘れないようにすることは、とても良い例だと思います。

彼らはあなたが知らないことを知っていて、以前は知らなかったことを教えてくれるかもしれないからです。 そして、その逆もまた然り、あなたは彼らが知らないことを彼らに教えることができます。

年配の人が年下の人から学ぶことはよくあることです。私のおばあさんも私に‘あなたはただプレイグラウンドで遊んでいる子供たちを見るだけでも人生で沢山の事を学べる’とよく言いました。そして今、その意味を理解できるようになりました。

人生は、どんなに年を取っても、高学歴であっても、永遠に学ぶことができるのですから、謙虚で、親切で、心を開くことを忘れないようにしましょう。
